PRC calls for plebiscite in Kashmir
Jeddah: Pakistan Repatriation Council ( PRC ) held in Mehran restaurant a symposium “ Kashmir - an obligation of Muslim Ummah” . it was presided by Vice Consul Mr. Talib Hussain on behalf of Consul General Pakistan. Mr. Mohammad Jameel Khan press attaché at Pakistani consulate was the chief guest.
Chief guest M. Jameel praised PRC for organizing the symposium on Kashmir issue. However organizing just symposium once a year will not solve the issue, rather we need to do a lot of effort to secure the right of self determination to Kashmiris. It is pity that UNO failed to organize promised plebiscite in Kashmir in the past 6 decade while it was quick to organize it in East Taeimure to liberate from Indonesia. He said that we will continue extending moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiris for their basic right of self determination.
Rauf Tahir said that Kashmir is un-finished agenda of Pakistan movement. He said that for 30 years Kashmiris were optimistic to get their right from Indian govt. but later they realised there was no seriousness to the issue. Hence they started resistance to Indian occupation. He blame Musharraf govt. to complicate the issue by discussing different option without even discussing with the Kashmiri leadership.
Guest of honor Ms. Sameera Aziz renowned Saudi Journalist and editor of Saudi Gazette said in her message “The modern right’s cautious and politically prudent world persuade towards autonomous views. A free and impartial plebiscite should be conducted by the United Nations, and the people of Kashmir should be given the opportunity to decide their future themselves“.
Syed Riaz Hussain Bukhari, President Pakistan Peoples Community said that we must praise loyalty of Kashmiris and stranded Pakistanis towards Pakistan and we must take serious and concerted measures to solve these soon.
Community leader Mohammad Ashfaque Badaouni said that fighting an occupier does not come under the category of terrorism but it is movement of freedom which has all the legitimacy so India need to give Kashmiris basic right of freedom rather than use force against them.
Community leader Engr. Iftikhar Choudhry said that raising the issues of Kashmir and stranded Pakistanis is our basic obligation. Community leaders Choudhry Saeed Jutt, Sheikh Mohammad Luqman, Gulab Khan, Shamsuddin Altaf, and Ilyas Meher also highlighted plight of Kashmiris and stranded Pakistanis.
Convener Ehsanul Haque urged OIC to play stronger role in organising the plebiscite in Kashmir as per UN resolution. He said India should remove it’s army and hand over power to Kashmiri leadership. He said without solving issue of Kashmir effort for peace will not succeed. He also urged govt. to solving the issue of stranded Pakistanis.
The event was conducted by Syed Musarrat Khalil, Recitation from holy Quran was made by Qari Abdul Majeed, Naat by Zamarrud Khan. Poets: Naseeme Sehar, Syed Mohsin Alavi, Abdul Qayyum Waseq, Zamurrad Khan Saifi and Gule Anwar presented poems in tribute to Kashmiris.

Pakistan govt. should use UNO, USA and other countries’ influence on India to ensure plebiscite in Kashmir according to the will of it’s people. Kashmiris must be included in all the negotiation of team of India and Pakistan.

We urge our govt to reactivate the Rabita Trust (frozen in October 2001 ) and restart the process of repatriation and rehabilitation. To overcome the paucity of fund, we suggest to implement PRC proposal of “ settlement of stranded Pakistanis on self finance basis“. Bangladesh should also play it’s role in solving the issue.

Prime Minister to include in his agenda solving issue of stranded Pakistanis when he visits Bangladesh.

Pakistani High Commissioner at Dhaka should be assigned to take care of Food, health, life and security of quarter million Pakistanis stranded in Bangladesh. OIC should include in it’s agenda the issue of settlement of stranded Pakistanis. We praise Nawai waqt Fund for taking care of stranded Pakistanis’ critical need in the camps and urge other charitable organizations e.g. UNHCR, Eidhi Trust to extend basic food, clothing and medical items for their survival. |
